🍅 ARTISAN BLUSH TIGER Cherry Tomato Seeds produce a spectacular open pollinated indeterminate tomato with elongated baby plum cherry fruits. This variety combines outstanding appearance with exceptionally sweet, juicy and tropical flavor, making it an excellent choice for fresh eating, colorful salads and attractive summer dishes.

The fruits are approximately 5 cm long and typically weigh around 20 to 25 grams. They develop golden yellow skin with attractive red and pink coloration as they ripen. Fruits are ready for harvesting when the characteristic pink blush develops over the golden background.

Blush is part of the Artisan tomato collection. Johnny Seeds describes Blush as an indeterminate variety producing 20 to 25 gram fruits with yellow and red coloration and a sweet and tangy flavor.

Frost resistance: None. Tomato plants are frost tender and temperatures around or below 0°C (32°F) can severely damage or kill the plants.

Recommended growing temperature: Warm conditions above approximately 12°C (54°F). The RHS states that tomatoes need warmth and do not thrive below 12°C.

Outdoor planting: Plant outdoors only after danger of frost has passed. Night temperatures should preferably remain above 10°C (50°F). The RHS recommends planting young tomatoes into their final position once temperatures are reliably above approximately 16°C (60°F).

ARTISAN BLUSH TIGER is therefore a warm season crop and should not be treated as a frost hardy perennial. In cooler climates it performs particularly well in a greenhouse, while outdoor plants require a warm, sunny and sheltered location.

🌱 Sowing Instructions

Sowing Time: Spring

Sowing Depth: Approximately 1/16 inch

Germination Temperature: Approximately 18°C to 24°C (65°F to 75°F)

Sow seeds in trays, modules or small individual pots filled with good quality seed compost. Cover the seeds lightly and keep the substrate consistently moist but never saturated.

Warm conditions are important for fast and uniform germination. Once seedlings emerge, provide plenty of bright light to encourage compact and strong growth.

🌿 Transplanting

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them carefully into approximately 3 inch pots. Continue growing them under bright conditions until the plants are strong and approximately 8 inches tall.

Greenhouse plants can then be moved to their permanent growing position when conditions are sufficiently warm.

For outdoor cultivation, gradually acclimatize plants to outside conditions before final planting. Do not move tender young tomato plants directly from protected indoor conditions into cold outdoor conditions.

For traditional cordon cultivation, plants can be trained to one main stem and side shoots removed regularly. This concentrates growth into a manageable vertical plant and improves access to developing fruit clusters.

Unlike determinate bush tomatoes, indeterminate varieties continue producing new growth and flowers throughout the season and therefore benefit greatly from continuous training and support.

💧 Watering

Water regularly and maintain reasonably consistent soil moisture throughout active growth. Avoid allowing plants to become extremely dry and then heavily watering them, as major fluctuations in moisture can negatively affect fruit quality.

Water directly around the root zone whenever possible rather than repeatedly wetting the foliage.

Container and greenhouse plants may require frequent watering during hot summer weather because their growing medium dries considerably faster than open garden soil.

🌿 Determinate and Indeterminate Tomatoes

🏡 Growing in Containers

ARTISAN BLUSH TIGER can also be grown in sufficiently large containers. Use fertile, high quality potting compost and provide a strong support structure from an early stage.
