The berries ripen early on even small plants (as short as 6"), but they require patience to fully ripen. Green berries are slightly poisonous, so they should only be harvested when they turn black and lose their shininess. While raw wonderberries have little flavor, they develop a rich taste when cooked, making them perfect for pies, jams, and jellies.
